Product Description The high priestess of the hood, Nikki Turner, is back with the novel fans have been feenin’ for: the sequel to her #1 bestselling novel, A Hustler’s Wife.
Des, Virginia’s slickest gangsta, is about to become a dad when he is charged with the murder of his own attorney. But with Yarni, his gorgeous wife (and a brilliant lawyer), now calling the shots, Des isn’t going back to the slammer without a fierce fight. Even with the heat on, Des manages to take his game to the next level and finds a new hustle, one that will allow him to possess the three things all major players desire: money, power, and respect. He becomes a preacher. Reluctantly, Yarni stands by her man as he trades in his triple beam scale for a Bible and a Bentley and makes his Church of the Good Life Ministry a welcoming place for all sinners to step up to the altar.
But when Des’s nephew is killed in the high-stakes heroin trade and Des learns that someone close to him okayed the hit, the dyed-in-the-wool gangsta sets aside the Bible for the gospel of the streets–even if it means risking the one person who’s always had his back.

Shaking Hands With God While Dancing With The Devil April 10, 2007 D. Frazier (Cleveland, Ohio) 10 out of 15 found this review helpful
In Nikki Turner's Forever A Hustler's Wife, which is the sequel to A Hustler's Wife, readers are reintroduced to Yarni and Des Taylor. The now married couple attempt to coexist in two separate worlds that continue to collide. Yarni was a successful lawyer who was on a mission to assist brothers railroaded in the legal system, overcome injustices similar to those seen by her husband. Des continued to maintain business in the streets involving drugs, money, and murder. After serving a ten year prison sentence for a crime he did not commit, Des is faced again with similar charges. Yarni maintained her ride or die position, next to Des, making it her mission to keep him out of prison. The stakes were higher than before since they had a child together. Yarni plunges deep into the judicial system and harmoniously danced with all of the mountains thrown in her path even though some had the potential of ending her life. Des, on the other hand, was always down for a hustle. Not only was he into street pharmaceuticals but he owned `Des's Grown Man Toy Store', which was a luxury car dealership selling Lamborghini's, Bentley's, and other big ticket automobiles. After attending the funeral of a close family member, Des witnessed another hustle. This hustle came from the pulpit. Good Life Ministry was Des's way of creating a legitimate hustle, or so he tried to convince himself. Although Yarni explained her uneasiness about Des becoming a preacher, she stayed by his side as the First Lady. From dope sales to building funds and collection plates, Des took the game to another level. Will all of his sins now be forgiven? Will his corrupt past destroy his family's future? Who is the winner when you play with God in your home court? Nikki Turner brings it but should it have been brought? While this novel is filled with more drama than a soap opera, I still found it rather easy to put down. The main storyline lacks originality and none of the subplots had the fire in them to keep me glued to the pages. It follows the cliche `same stuff, different day' and I am sure her readers will feel cheated. Those readers who are not familiar with her prior works will definitely enjoy the book though us old timers waited so long and expected a more fulfilling story. The ending leads me to believe there will be another novel and if so, I hope Yarni learns her lesson. Reviewed by Darnetta Frazier APOOO BookClub
Dissappointed April 12, 2007 Tracie L. Williams (Washington,DC) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was so excited about reading this book. So far I have loved every book that Nikki Turner has ever written, except this once. I just didn't find myself on the edge of my seat like the others. This book was east to put down. The plot and sub-plots were predictable and the end left some unanswered questions. This one just didn't do it for me.
Tisk! Tisk! Tisk! April 20, 2007 VIRGO (SAN FRANCISCO) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is some bull.... Nikki should have left it alone. The things that happen in this book was a joke. The way Des treated Yarni.... NEVER would have happen.. How she gone have Joyce and Yarni beefing... They was VERY tight at the close of the last book. Where did Des get a brother and a nephew from???? Bambi mother was a chef????? NO she was a DRUNK!!!!!!!!! Why in this book Yarni talk to her mom 3 times????? They was VERY TIGHT!!!! How she gone say that Lava felt like family and looking at her she could see it but NEVER said who her people were???? How did she had Lynx coming home from Jail but he was home at the end of The glamorous life???? How did she having Yarni popping pills and she was so against drugs..... I'm going to stop cause I can go on... Nikki should have left this a classic! At the end of the day I'm going to say Tisk! Tisk! Tisk!

The sequel didnt do any justice for the first novel. You have Des who is back in jail and being framed for murder. He has his nephew is coming up in the drug game and his uncle introduce him to a connect that will change his life forever. Then you have Yarni who is so thr lawyer helping this guy get off she is a new mother and and letting Des mother walk all over her. I can't even go on. Because this was not the Yarni in the First book who didn't let people walk all over her.
nikki need to step her game up! April 20, 2007 stacey (new york, ny) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The book was not what I expected at all. Hustler's Wife is a classic. But this sequel is horrid. Super boring, and not realistic at all. Des a preacher? I can't say anything else cause I'm going back to the book store to get a REFUND
