No extras March 28, 2006 H. Thomas (Schweiz) 11 out of 20 found this review helpful
The good thing first: Classical baby has very nice animations and the music choosen is nice too. BUT, it is very short and it does not contain any extras, there is just the animations nothing more. The package says something about a parents guide but thats just a small booklet inside thats really just an advertisement. I was hoping that some real instruments appear and people showing how to play them, as an extra this would be very useful. Well, I am disappointed by this DVD! And my kids (4 y. and 17 m.) too, they looked it one time - nearly, and dont want it any more.
We've seen better! February 9, 2008 Mom of Two, NY 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
This is fun, but if you want your toddler to really learn something about music, there is better out there. My daughter was hooked on Trebellina, which is designed for babies and taught her how to read written music. We searched high and low for good music products for our daughter and this is definitely the best. She was riveted by it as a toddler and by three years old she could read music and started taking lessons. Her teachers were amazed at what she knew. On that DVD the awesome characters sing the note, show the note and then the corresponding piano key. A young child can definitely get the idea of what a note is! IF you want your child to learn, get the read deal.
Beautiful, Sweet, Better than Baby Einstein November 4, 2005 S. Hall (California) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I agree with the previous reviewer, this is DEFINITELY better than Baby Einstein. I watched it with my 2 year old son, and I couldn't take my eyes off. Beautiful animations with gentle themes, wonderful choices in songs, it's not one to pass up! It reminded me a lot of the original Disney's Fantasia, but geared toward babies and toddlers. My son couldn't stop asking, What's that? at all the different animals floating by. You must get this video!
What Baby Eistein wishes it could be. March 24, 2006 mom at home (Santa Moncia, CA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I discovered Classical Baby, The Art Show by tivoing it, and was instantly hooked, as was my toddler. This was much more in keeping with what I thought video entertainment should be, with original orchestrations, and iconic art. I, like many parents, am not crazy about parking my toddler in front of the television, but when we sit together and talk about the scenes or move to the music, I feel like this is as close to getting to a museum as we can get on a day to day basis. The Music Show is also wonderful, with great performances of a wide range of musical styles, from contemporary compositions to the most beautiful arias.
Our son LOVES his Classical Baby videos! October 6, 2005 dollybones (Mississippi) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Our five month old son expects Classical Baby as part of our daily routine. He responds and moves differently to each piece and is very interested in watching the animation. There are certain parts he smiles at every time, certain parts that make him kick and bounce in his chair, and only two videos in the entire series that consistently make him scrunch his nose, furrow his brow and whimper until we fast forward through it or distract him with talk or a toy until the next song/video begins and he gets right back into it. It is amazing and I think a great way to introduce your child to classical music, dance, and art. (One year later, he STILL loves these videos. -- 11/07/06)
