Wubbzy is an infectiously lovable cartoon character with a kooky crooked tail that lives in a CGI world of unusual looking animal characters, pink and purple trees, and buildings with zig-zaggy walls. An impulsive young creature, Wubbzy greets each day with enthusiasm and a healthy dose of curiosity and is always on the lookout for a fun new experience. When trouble arises, Wubbzy counts on his good friends Widgit, a lover of machines and master inventor, and Walden, a science whiz, to help him creatively solve even the most difficult problem. In these eight humor-filled episodes, Wubbzy and his friends engage in everything from trying to straighten out Wubbzy's crooked tail to building the fastest road racer ever, stopping a volcano from erupting, and caring for a pet fleegle. While things rarely work out like the three friends plan, they always manage to have loads of fun while discovering the value of things like friendship, liking oneself, helping others, truthfulness, self-restraint, and taking responsibility for one's actions. A Nick Jr. program with huge appeal to preschoolers and their parents, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! promises to rival the popularity of Blues Clues and Dora the Explorer. (Ages 3 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi

5 out of 5 stars Clever Cartoon With Catchy Music   September 23, 2008

"Meet Wubbzy! He's a fun, adorable, lovable, curious little guy who is always looking to have a good time with his best friends Widget and Walden in the wacky town of Wuzzleburg. Together they discover they importance of open-mindedness, honesty and friendship all while having fun." -- From the back cover

When we had DirecTV, my son enjoyed watching Wow Wow Wubbzy. Me, I enjoyed the upbeat, funny rhyming "music videos"!

For those unfamiliar with the show, here's the low down on the three main characters: Wubbzy is a yellow square-like creature with a twisty tail, and his favorite thing to play is "kickety-kick ball". His friend Widget is a pink creature with rabbit-like ears who loves to fix or invent things (often ending her creations in "3000"). Walden is a bespectabled creature who is the intellectual of the group, enjoying learning new things and dispensing information.

A Tale of Tails DVD is the first DVD release of the Wow Wow Wubbzy show, and it comes wrapped in a cool holographic sleeve. This 92 minute DVD includes these episodes:

*A Tale of Tails
*Special Delivery
*Widget's Wild Ride
*Attach of the 50-Foot Fleegle
*Come Spy with Me
*Wubbzy Tells a Whopper
*Mt. Fizzy Pop
*Puddle Muddle

On the menu, there is the ability to play just the "music videos" interspersed within the episodes (sadly, for me, "It Doesn't Have to Be By the Book" isn't on this particular DVD).

The DVD-ROM features are a Ring Toss Game, Coloring Pages and Party Printables for a "Wubb-ified" party.

The insert also includes an image search game How Many Wubbzys Can You Find?

If your child is a rabid fan of Wow Wow Wubbzy, he/she will likely enjoy this colorful DVD. While the cartoon might irritate parents after a while, there are some great social lessons in this DVD (such as not touching the property of others without their permission, self acceptance when "different", and the consequences of lying), as well as catchy, upbeat tunes reinforcing these lessons.

My son enjoyed watching them all over again and is glad to have the DVD!

"Wubbzy lives in a tree. He likes to play! Play! Play!
He's got a bendy tail
And he likes it that way!

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
Wubbzy! Wubbzy! Wow! Wow!"

I dare you to listen to the Wubbzy theme song and not sing along.
No, I DOUBLE dare ya!!

Although this loveable cartoon is for a much younger age group (preschool), older kids will also get a kick out the funny characters and Pac-Man style simple animation.

The main character is a squarish yellow creature with a long tail that can bend into any shape, including a spring, which he uses from time to time for rapid locomotion. His friends are an overly-enthusiastic female rabbit inventor named Widget, and a bespectacled and very intelligent purple creature named Walden. Each has a catch phrase of their own, which kids will soon be repeating ad nauseam.

This DVD contains 8 episodes from Season One, and is the first DVD released from the series.

A Tale of Tails
Special Delivery
Widget's Wild Ride
Attack Of The 50-foot Fleegle
Come Spy with Me
Wubbzy Tells a Whopper
Mt. Fizzy Pop
Puddle Muddle

Each episode has a positive message for kids, such as being comfortable with who you are; not touching things that don't belong to you; telling the truth; the importance of reading instructions; the joys of having friends, and much more.

It may drive parents crazy, but kids will love it. So the next time your child utters the phrase "That's koooky", rest assured that he/she heard it on this show, and not from your psychiatrist or mother-in-law.

"Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!
Wubbzy! Wubbzy! Wow! Wow!"

Darn! Now I'll be singing it for days

Warning: Addictive. Do not watch while driving or operating heavy machinery

Caution: There are already over sixty episodes, so be prepared for multiple DVD purchases.

Helpful hint: Christmas is coming. Recommended for any preschoolers on your list.

5 out of 5 stars A show that both my 5 yo and 1 yo enjoy!   September 18, 2008

This is such a cute show, with catchy music (that both my kids love to dance to). My 5 year old sings the song all day. Each show has a nice moral lesson, usually about how to treat your friends. The plot is enough to hold the 5 year olds attention, but colorful and musical enough to hold the attention of my 16 month old.

Very cute and creative characters!

5 out of 5 stars A charming DVD   September 24, 2008

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! A Tale of Tails is a series of cute shows, 8 of them, explore different situations that happen in kids lives. For example, there is one that deals with Wubbsy who has a crooked tale being rejected by the other characters because he's different and shows how he overcomes that and ends up fitting in. Or when he tells a lie about something that he broke and it ends up rolling into to other lies to cover the first one until the story is way out of control and he has to straighten it all out.

The graphics are simple but the cartoons are creative with a lot of movement, bright colors and imagination. The voices are super cute and there are lots of other sounds and music videos. There is a place in the "Extras" section where you can watch all the music videos together.

I got the DVD for my two parrots who have a lot of kid's DVD's and their own little TV and have definite preferences for what they like to watch. They simply ignore some movies. They were both attentive when this one was playing and screamed when it ended and the titles came on. They seem to like movement, cute sounds and music and this DVD has it all. I heard lots of little sounds from them as they watched. There was even some "dancing" on the perches and wing flapping during the some of the music videos. The DVD is 92 minutes long which is also a plus because it keeps them entertained for a long time.

As an adult much of it seemed sort of silly, but it was great for the birds and I imagine it would be popular with children as well.

4 out of 5 stars Wow! Wow! Wubbzy is Kooky! & There's Nothing Wrong With That! :-)   September 25, 2008

Nick Jr. presents, "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!," a new children's series for the youngsters. This 92 minute DVD release features a total of 8 shows each running ten to twelve minutes long (including two bonus episodes) showcasing that cute little guy, Wubbzy, and his pals, Widget & Walden.

"A Tale of Tails" - Wubbzy wants to play ball with the other kids but always gets turned down and picked on because his tail is so "kooky" looking. This episode discusses how our physical differences, which are not always accepted, are still very important and make up a huge part of who we are, individually.

"Special Delivery" - A package for Walden (a brand new toy train) arrives in the mail, and Wubbzy can't help but open it up and play with it first. This episode discusses the importance of being respectful of other people's property by not touching it without the owner's permission.

"Widget's Wild Ride" - Wubbzy enters a racing contest with the help of his friend, Widget. But when the car she puts together for Wubbzy becomes too complicated for him to figure out, the whole thing falls apart. This episode focuses on the importance of communication and working together, as well as the age old saying: Winning Isn't Everything.

"Attack of the 50-Foot Fleegle" - Wubbzy has a new pet and decides to feed it nothing but candy, all the time, causing the creature to grow bigger and bigger. This episode is all about how important it is to care for your pets correctly.

"Come Spy With Me" - Walden seems to be keeping something from his friends, so Wubbzy and Widget decide to spy on him to find out his secret. This episode focuses on the importance of privacy and how being too curious about other people's personal business can get you into trouble.

2 Bonus Episodes are also included:

"Mt. Fizzy Pop" - Take a make believe journey with Wubbzy, Walden, & Widget, as they make grape ice cream out of a magic volcano!

"Puddle Muddle" - It's picture day, and Wubbzy just can't seem to get to the photo studio without ruining his outfits in mud puddles along the way. But when someone asks for help, will Wubbzy risk getting dirty again in order to lend a hand?

Other Special Features include:

"4 Bonus Music Videos" (including: That's Kooky) - showcased between different episodes that help reinforce the important message of that partucular show.

"Wubbzy's Game & Activites" - this section is only accesible on your computer using a DVD-ROM. It includes a Ring Toss Game, and a printable invitations feature.

"Sneek Peeks" - take a look at other children's DVD releases:
Thomas & Friends
Eloise's Rawther Unusual Halloween
Eon Kid: Season 1, Vol. 1
Scary Godmother: Halloween Spooktakular
Phonics for Babies: First Words
The Happy Elf

Wubbzy is a fun, enjoyable show that little kids will like and have fun with, as well as learn some important lessons too.
