| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description For nearly twenty-five years, recreational divers and marine scientists have relied on Fishes of the Bahamas and Adjacent Tropical Waters to identify the hundreds of inshore fish species found in the Caribbean and West Atlantic. Now this classic work, long out of print and prohibitively expensive in the used book market, is again available in an updated edition, which includes a new section that lists fifty-eight additional species and eighty-four nomenclature changes. Five hundred sixty-seven tropical fish species are treated in this edition. The original entries provide information about the physical distinctions, coloration, distribution, and life history of each species. Seven hundred wash drawings, by artist-illustrator Steven Gigliotti, accompany the species descriptions and also illustrate family characteristics, such as body shape, fin size, and teeth and gill placement. In addition, thirty-two color plates include twenty paintings of the most colorful and striking species. As useful today as when it was first published in 1968, this masterwork will remain an essential reference for any ichthyologist, marine researcher, serious sport diver, or fish naturalist.
