Trip Like I Do (USA)
For travelers and pirate enthusiasts, there's some really good, well-written and thorough historical, cultural and zoological depiction of all the scattered islands. I envy Jim Henderson because he has traveled them all, and I'm thankful he's gone to this much effort to document his experiences and anecdotes in vivid detail.

"Charlotte Amalie is a classically pretty Caribbean town -- red roofs and bursts of palm fronds that scatter the hillsides around a bay and steep alleys that lead down to the harbour. The warehouses on the waterfront are doing a roaring trade as they have on and off for over 300 years. Even in 1700, Pere Labat, the roving Dominican monk and self-confessed gastronome from Martinique, found silks from India and gold-embroidered Arabian muslin cloth. It was all off-loaded by pirates who stopped in port to spend their loot before heading seawards again for more 'cruize and plunder'...
