| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description A profoundly personal and culturally illuminating account of the author's voyage through the Yucatan Peninsula in search of the jaguar--and himself. Disconsolate over the AIDS-related death of his longtime lover, Schueler encounters exotic wildlife, drug smugglers, conservationists, big game hunters, expatriates, and the magical, mysterious jungle. Schueler also wrote Preserving the Pascagoula.

Take this book with you to the Yucatan May 28, 2006 Evelyn Williams (Russian River, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book. The publisher's review does not do it justice. I was afraid it would be bogged down by the author's introspection but found it had just enough to make his experiences more interesting & personal. It is a well-written & fascinating account of the history, flora, fauna and people of the Yucatan. Don't go without it!
