Let's discuss the contents and not so much the binding ... June 15, 2008 LA Avid Reader (LA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I read "La Sombra del Viento" (Shadow of the Wind) in one sitting, and thought it to be one of the best books I've read in the last 10 years. It took me just three days to finish this one, which is supposed to be a sequel, but you can perfectly read it independently of The Shadow. I don't want to be unfair with this one, cause I loved the other one so much. It is a good book, kept me going and interested, and found some parts very catching. I am not giving it 5 stars cause I was a bit dissapointed with the end, I felt the author had already written too many pages and some editor told him "that's it, you have to end it". Nevertheless, I strongly recommend it.
The previous reviewer is wrong!!! June 7, 2008 Ester Benavides 6 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought the hard cover version of this great book and the publisher INTENTIONALLY created a classic look for this edition. It's obvious that the previous reviewer has never purchased a luxury edition of a book. The old-world style of the unique pages was created to give this work that classic feel. Shame on you! You need to look at other luxury editions before commenting on something you know nothing about. Everyone out there...enjoy this beautifully crafted work of art.
Don't worry, Ester. Some people don't know any better. June 7, 2008 Felipe Martinez 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
You're absolutely right, Ester. The publisher wanted to create a different look for this novel. Don't pay attention to this goof. He/she needs to learn a thing or two about buying a book that's not a paperback.
Muy disfrutable June 27, 2008 Walter Landesman (Uruguay) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
nightmarish barcelona July 27, 2008 B. Mauro (Milano, Milano Italy) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very similar and very different from La Sombra del Viento. The romantic location is the same, but where the other book was a gothic mystery, fundamentally rational and with a coherent and satisfying solution, this is a totally irrational story, a fantasy book. Good in its own way, but a deception nonetheless.
