"The Female Pike" is a hardcover book with red cloth-covered boards featuring a tipped-in photo and title stamped in gray. The book measures 10.25 x 9.75 inches and contains 108 color plates in 144 pages. The Finnish photographer Esko Mannikko is known for his saturated color photos of people on the margins of society, most notably his fellow countrymen. In "The Female Pike," Mannikko's most famous book, he focuses on Finnish city dwellers who own second cabins in the countryside, to which they retreat to hunt or fish. Beautifully composed and showing a keen eye for color and light, and a strong feel for the right moment, the images are printed in Mannikko's typically lush colors on heavy matte paper. The book was selected by Parr and Badger for inclusion in their "The History of the Photobook." IN STOCK.
