Long Awaited October 16, 2007 Weston O'Malley (Cape Cod) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
I have all of her books and was looking forward to this one! Unfortunately it seems redundant and almost monotonous... I kept waiting to turn a page and be inspired, but that didn't happen!! It is, however a lovely and well photographed book which I'm sure will be appreciated by her many fans...
Redundant and uninspired? I don't think so. November 14, 2007 J. R. (Atlanta, GA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a beautiful book as are all of the books by Betty Lou Phillips. I did not find it uninspired or anything like a furniture showroom nor did I find it redundant because it has many new ideas and unusual color schemes. I was afraid to order this sight unseen after reading a couple of unfavorable reviews so I went to the book store to see it in person before I ordered it and was so relieved to find it every bit as good as her other books. There is no accounting for taste but I feel very confident in saying that if you like her other books you will like this one as well or maybe even better.
I love this book!! October 28, 2007 Designer (San Diego, CA) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful

Uninspired - Santa Clara CA October 31, 2007 S. S. Thon (Santa Clara, CA United States) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have never been disappointed with any of Ms. Philips' books before, but this one was not up to her usual standards. I felt the rooms lacked warmth and life. They all looked staged with no personal touches or charm. You could very well have been walking through a mid to high end furniture store. She forgot her design humor and verve in this one.
Great gift idea November 1, 2007 S. L. Freeman (Dallas, TX.) 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
My husband gave me this book as a gift. I enjoyed it so much I purchased additional copies for my sisters- both of whom are interior designers and have all of Betty Lou's previous books. I know they will be delighted with this newest book as you can tell a lot of time went towards the research for the writing and the selection of the beautiful photographs.
