Little Updated from Last Version January 12, 2007 SPS Gringo (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I live in Honduras and used the previous version of the Moon Handbook quite a bit. In looking through the new version I find little that have been updated except things like the politics and some new pictures. I was quite disappointed to still see some restaurants and hotels that were listed in the last book and again reprinted in this one but that are out of business. Also the tourist visa information is incorrect due to a new law which was passed before the book was published. This mistake alone could cost some people time, money and hassle.
I like the layout and for the most part the information is good and correct but I think it is a bit of a scam that they call it a new version.
A must if you're planning a trip to Honduras April 19, 2007 R. Lattin 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Don't leave to Honduras without this book! We went on a 10 day trip and we didn't go anywhere without this. It is very informative and truely lets you know the best things to do and the best places to stay in each city you visit. Included are phone numbers, addresses, prices and maps so you can find your way around the country and know what to expect. I highly recommend this book to anyone travelling to Honduras; it definitely made our trip better.
Fabulous Guide Book January 14, 2007 SPH (Walnut Creek, CA USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My husband and I just got back from Honduras -- this was the best guide book by far. It was accurate, concise, informative -- we used it as our only guide for our two and a half week trip. It gave us the flexibility to plan our trip and book our hotels while we were in country. We noticed that it was THE BOOK that other travelers from all over used while in Honduras also. We would highly recommend this book for anyone!
Very thorough, detailed guidebook to Honduras September 21, 2007 Alexander Steffler (Houston, TX USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I highly recommend this guidebook for your travels in Honduras. On the whole, it's very thorough and complete. I do wish it had more detail, however, for San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa.
A friend I traveled with had the Lonely Planet Honduras guidebook, and we both agreed that Moon was more helpful -- it had a wider range of information and was more accurate.
Horrible Book with Incredibly Outdated Material and Egregious Errors September 7, 2009 BookWormGirl (Bay Area, CA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
We spent a month in Honduras and I would have to say the information from this book was incredibly outdated with egregious errors. The first night we arrived in Honduras we went to three hotels listed in the book. All of which went out of business. As we will find out through out the trip this will become a trend in the book because the information is grossly outdated or wrong. We went out of way to go to a scuba driver training course that was recommended to find out they have not been there in years.
The section written for the Caribbean coast actually made us wonder if they even went to these places. We even looked into the details of the author that was responsible for this section in the book. The remarks covering this woman said I have no idea how she managed to complete the section because she was pregnant and had a small child with her. It's easy to imagine how she did it because she did not actually go to these places she wrote about. I would have to say we lost a week from our vacation because of all the mishaps that all the errors from this book guided us into.
I do not recommend this book, which is very disappointing because the month earlier we used the Moon book for Ecuador and it was wonderful with rich details.
