Book Description A thrilling descent into the depths of a terrorist movement. The Terrorist Price is a gripping insider's account of the Pakistani resistance organization Al-Zulfikar (in Urdu, "The Sword"), set up in 1979 after the coup by General Ziaul-Haq and the execution of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Raja Anwar, the author, was an advisor to Prime Minister Bhutto and one of the organizers of the campaign to save his life after his conviction on a trumped-up murder charge. Named as a traitor by Zia, and liable to execution if arrested, Anwar sought asylum in Germany. But when Bhutto's sons Murtaza and Shahnawaz asked him to join them, he agreed and participated in the founding of Al-Zulfikar. Raja Anwar recounts the transformation of Al-Zulfikar into a terrorist group, run by Murtaza Bhutto as his own exclusive fiefdom. In 1981, the organization hijacked a Pakistani airline en route to Kabul. Twice it came close to assassinating Zia. For his opposition to Murtaza's leadership, Anwar was imprisoned in Kabul for four years. Murtaza himself was killed by the police in Karachi in 1996. Raja Anwar draws unmistakably convincing portraits of the obsessively ruthless Murtaza, his lieutenant, chief executioner and eventual victim, Salamullah Tipu, and the young workers who sacrificed their lives for a corrupted cause. Rich in detail available only to a participant in the turbulent events it portrays, The Terrorist Prince brilliantly fuses the tension and pace of a political thriller with the veracity of first-rate reportage. It is a compelling narrative of ruptures which continue to divide a deeply troubled Pakistan.

I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! November 1, 2001 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book has infuriated me! You know why? The author is sympathetic to the hijackers of Flight PK 326, especially Arshad. My family and I were aboard that flight and I can tell you by their actions on that plane, that they do not deserve anyone's sympathy. If that's not enough, half the book is written on heresay and facts that, in no way, the author could have witnessed. This book is a sham. Do me a favor and take your money elsewhere.
BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN ON ITS SUBJECT July 13, 1999 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
MURTAZA EMERGES FROM THIS HORRIFYING NARRATIVE AS A MINDLESS ,CRUEL ,WRECKLESS AND DISHONEST BRAT WHO NEVER GREW UP. ALL THE BHUTTOS SHOWED ASTONISHING HEARTLESSNESS IN THERE TREATMENT OF THE FAMILIES OF THOSEWHO DIED UNDER TORTURE OR IN GALLOWS TO RESTORE THEIR PARTY AND THEM TO POWER . THE STORY HAS AN ABSORBING THEME AND A STUUNNING TABLU OF MACABRE DETAILS. IT IS THE RAW MATERIAL OF HISTORY AND ONE SHOULD NOT LET IT GO UNREAD.
a wonderful book, highly informative and interesting August 6, 1999 majzub@yahoo.com (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
THE BOOK PROVIDES A WEALTH OF DETAIL ON EVENTS AND INCIDENTS ABOUT WITCH VERY LITTLE WAS KNOWN A RESULT OF GENERAL ZIAS IRON GRIP ON MEDIA.ANWAR OUTLINES CLEARLY AND WITH MUCH DOCUMENTS,THE GENESIS AND DEVELOPMNT OF A TERRORIST GROUP SET UP BY MURTAZA ,THE ELDEST SON OF EXECUTED PAKISTANI PRIME MINISTER ALI BHUTTO.THE B0OK IS NOT ONLY INFORMATIVE BUT GOOD READ.
THE BOOK IS COMULSIVE READING August 6, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
THIS BOOK IS AN EXTREMELY INFOMATIVE . IT FILLS IN MANY OF THE BLANKS LEFT IN RECENT HISTORY BY THE ZIA REGIME AND BY THE DESIGNES OF THE USA,ANTI SOVIET AFGHAN POLICY.
Excellent but not complete! November 18, 2001 Trinsten (Canada) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
A very interesting book, very well written but the fact of the matter is that the writer of the book "Raja Anwar" was in prison when the most crucial situations took place in his absence. Still standing in my "favorite book" list. I just want this book to be (re-written) or continued by someone who actually experienced it from the outside. But overall excellent work by Raja Anwar. A must have and believe me it will look just perfect in the bookshelf.
